TorqueMaster Spring Conversion in the Phoenix Valley
Got a Wayne Dalton door and can't find the springs? They're hiding inside that metal tube above the door. That's a TorqueMaster system. When it fails, we don't patch it. We convert it to standard torsion springs that last longer and are a lot easier to service.

How to Tell If You Have a TorqueMaster
- It's a Wayne Dalton door
- There's no visible spring above the door, just a metal tube
- The end brackets have plastic winding cones or a winding gear
- The door got hard to lift, or it won't open at all
Why We Always Convert
TorqueMaster was designed to make spring adjustment easier, and on paper it's a clever idea. In real garages, and especially in Arizona heat, we see the same problems over and over: thin metal and plastic parts that wear out and crack, and springs you can't see, so there's no warning before one breaks. Once parts start failing, repairs get harder and pricier.
A conversion swaps the TorqueMaster assembly for standard external torsion springs on a solid shaft, with new drums and bearings. It's the same proven setup most doors in the Valley already use, and it's the setup we'd want on our own garage.

What's Included in a Conversion
- Removal of the TorqueMaster tube, springs and winding hardware
- A new shaft, cable drums, center bearing and end bearings
- High-cycle torsion springs sized to your door's weight
- New cables when needed
- The door balanced and the opener safety-checked
- A 5-year parts & labor warranty on the springs

TorqueMaster FAQs
Can you just replace the TorqueMaster spring?
We don't. TorqueMaster is a lower-quality system that doesn't hold up, and putting a new spring in it just means paying for the same repair again down the road. A conversion fixes the problem for good.
Is a conversion worth it on an older door?
Usually, if the panels are in good shape. If the door itself is near the end of the road, we'll tell you. Sometimes a new door makes more sense, and sometimes it doesn't.
How long does a conversion take?
About an hour, in a single visit.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Estimates are free on all of our services.
