Signs Your Door Is Off Track or a Cable Broke
- One side of the door is higher than the other
- Rollers have popped out of the track
- A cable is loose, frayed or off the drum
- The door got hit by a car (it happens to the best of us)
- The door stopped partway and won't budge

What Usually Causes It
The most common cause is a broken spring. When a spring lets go, the cables lose tension and jump off their drums, and the door goes crooked. Other times it's a frayed or rusted cable that finally snaps, a car that bumped the door, worn rollers, a bent track, or someone running the opener with the manual lock still engaged.
That's why we don't just shove the door back in the track and leave. If the cause is still there, you'll be calling us again next week, and we'd rather you didn't have to.

How We Fix It
First we secure the door so it can't fall. Then we get it back in the track and down to the ground, reset the torsion assembly by setting the cable tension and winding the springs, and replace any damaged cables, rollers or track sections. Last, we check the balance and the opener's safety reverse.
A basic reset comes with a 30-day labor warranty. Any parts we replace carry that part's own warranty.

Off-Track & Cable FAQs
Can I just push the door back into the track?
Please don't. The springs and cables are under heavy tension, and an off-track door can drop suddenly. This one's worth the phone call.
Do I need new cables?
If they're frayed, rusted or kinked, yes. When we replace springs, we usually recommend new cables too, since new springs will easily outlast old cables.
Can you come out today?
Often, depending on the schedule. A door stuck open or a car stuck inside gets moved to the front of the line.
